If your accreditation has expired, you need to apply for accreditation as a Trained IEW Instructor. It is important that you use Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, Third Edition (TWSS3) and complete the practicum assignments in Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, Third Edition Seminar Workbook (SW3).
Trained IEW Instructor
- A Trained IEW Instructor renewing accreditation shows evidence of continued IEW education by reading the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, Third Edition Seminar Workbook and listening to or watching six hours of IEW audio recordings, live workshops, or webinars (excluding Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar).
- Submit a Unit 7 composition on the subject of your choice.
- Complete the application and pay the $20 nonrefundable renewal application fee.
- After application and payment have been processed, you will receive a link to submit a Unit 7 composition (KWO, rough draft, final draft).
- After you submit the completed Unit 7 composition, the IEW Accreditation Team will evaluate it to ensure that all the requirements have been accurately completed. This process may take thirty to sixty days, and you may be requested to make changes. Upon approval, your accreditation as a Trained IEW Instructor will be renewed for two years.
Experienced IEW Instructor
- An Experienced IEW Instructor renewing accreditation shows evidence of continued IEW education by reading the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, Third Edition Seminar Workbook and listening to or watching six hours of IEW audio recordings, live workshops, or webinars (excluding Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar).
- Submit a Unit 7 composition on the subject of your choice.
- When you complete the application, you will be prompted to write a 125–150 word reflection summary.
- Complete the application and pay the $20 nonrefundable renewal application fee.

The two graded student papers should be from an average student at the highest level that you teach. (This should not be your own child.)
