Julia Jinks
Hi, I’m Julia, part writer, part educator, and full-time champion of games to enhance education. I started out crafting news stories and later writing for HGTV. When my four kids arrived, I discovered that teaching, especially writing, was where all my worlds came together. My own children struggled with writing. Then I found Institute for Excellence in Writing, and writing suddenly clicked. Watching their transformation lit a fire in me. Since then, I’ve taught hundreds of students to write with confidence. Now at True North Homeschool Academy, I teach everything from American Literature to World Geography, Junior High Writing, Histopoly (yes, a game I built), Personal Finance, and Career Exploration. My classes are equal parts structure and adventure, think academic meets fun and games. I love watching students discover they’re capable of so much more than they realized.
Outside the classroom, you’ll probably find me hiking in the Smokies, at Bible Study Fellowship, or plotting my next geography lesson and trip! If you love talking about learning, playing games, or teaching kids with games, we’ll get along great!
You can find out more about me and the classes I teach at Homeschool Writing Lessons. I’d love to support your homeschool journey—reach out at homeschoolwritinglessons@gmail.com.
